British Defence Equipment

This site complements the British Defence Equipment Catalogue and
the British Defence Industry Directory (see the entries for these
in the Directories section). It lists over 3,000 suppliers of
products and services. It can be searched through various access
points including company, product, service, trade name and
personnel. There are also searchable indices of associations and
abbreviations and an international events calendar.
Defence Analytical Services

DASA provides professional analytical and statistical services and
advice to the Ministry of Defence and defence-related statistics to
parliament, other Government Departments and the public. DASA is
responsible for publishing all the statistics on defence. In
addition to background information on DASA and general defence
statistics the site contains figures for war pensions and a list of
links.

Provides through a searchable database, contact details, activity
descriptions and information about products/services for over 370
member-companies. The site also has a section for topical issues
and links to other defence organisations' sites.
Jane's Information

Gives information about Jane's Information Group publications
including a range of Special Reports on defence markets. Those on
'Patrol Craft Markets' and 'Thermal Industry Markets' are described
above. Jane's also publish a number of journals and directories on
the defence, aerospace and transportation industries. A description
is required to access most Data Services but news stories relating
to the defence industry are free.

Has key facts about the MoD and the armed forces including the
defence budget and equipment. Also provides details of over 30
factsheets on topics such as defence and technology, smart
procurement and defence diversification. In addition there is
defence news and links to other UK sites. These include the Defence
Procurement Agency (from whom details can be obtained on how to
become a supplier to the MoD) and the SABRE campaign ('Supporting
Britain's Reservists and Employers').
North Atlantic Treaty

Has information about the organisation and its members and about
current issues. There are, as well, graphs showing, for each NATO
member, the proportional expenditure on personnel, equipment,
infrastructure and other areas.
Royal Air Force:

Includes details of all the aircraft and equipment currently in
use, past and present squadrons and their history, bases in the UK
and overseas, the organisation of the RAF, news (including
statistics for the Search and Rescue Service) and careers
information. There are also links to sites for squadrons, sports
clubs, university air squadrons and RAF associations.

Includes illustrated descriptions of noteable ships, details of
current operations and information about the Fleet Air Arm as well
as sections on submarines, navy life, the Royal Marines, the

The Institute 'seeks to be the professional forum in the UK for
those concerned with national and international defence and
security'. The site includes information about RUSI's study
department, activities in the area of the military sciences, lists
of publications and events/conferences and media relations.

Includes a list of Defence Forum meetings (including details of the
key speaker and title of their speech). The text of papers,
regional studies, fact sheets and themed studies published by the
Forum is given.

Covers, often from an international stand-point, topics such as

DPA: Defence Procurement
Analysis
Has regular sections focusing on land, air and sea. Also covered

Jane's Defence Industry
Billed as the 'monthly newsletter covering the supply side of the
international defence community' the publication includes news
about the industry, company profiles, programme updates, corporate
analysis, descriptions of new technology, details of contracts,
market intelligence and information about personnel moves.
Jane's Defence Upgrades
Contains news items on individual countries including the UK. Also
has specialist sections with such titles as 'Upgrade Overview',

Jane's Defence Weekly
Sub-titled 'The World's News and Analysis' this publication
includes briefings, business/company information, a forces update,
a directory of Jane's custom service offices and interviews with

Includes feature articles on individual developments together with
regular sections on defence, weapons/equipment, science/technology
and future combat systems.
Military Technology
Has international coverage and includes features on Europe in
general and the UK in particular.
Unmanned Vehicles
With international coverage this publication includes articles on
the latest developments in unmanned vehicles used for military
purposes. There are also features on the research and development

Industry 2007
Includes aerospace contractors, naval contractors, army
contractors, companies engaged in defence electronics and 'major
groups with interests in defence equipment'. For each company
provides a performance analysis and financial information. There
are also performance league tables based on a range of indices
which include size, profitability, efficiency, liquidity, gearing,
employee productivity, pay/sales and growth rates.
