Modelling & SimulationSimulation
has been a significant part of Elan's business since our
involvement in Aerospace and Defence began. Our initial expertise
in Aerospace simulation, has grown in recent years to include land
and naval simulation projects. Elan have provided expertise to
projects involving Airbus and Boeing commercial aircraft alongside
military projects such as Typhoon, Tornado and Nimrod. Elan has
also conducted extensive work in mathematical modelling to projects
involving survivability in fixed and rotary wing aircraft,

Naval Capability
Elan Defence has a wide range of expertise within the Naval sector
and plays a significant role in providing technical and business
management services for naval platforms and systems. Elan's
capability ranges from expertise in equipment design and
manufacture, through platform development, weapons, sonar, through
life support and reliability, systems integration and trials. Our
capability covers the vast majority of in-service above and below
water platforms and systems.
Aerospace
Elan Defence & our Group has been at the forefront of
development in the military aerospace domain, ranging from systems
design and development on platforms such as Typhoon, JSF, A400M,
Hawk, V-22, US101, Merlin and Lynx. In addition, Elan provides
extensive support to the Military Trials fleet based at Boscombe
Down, both in Trials Management, and the flight readiness of the
aircraft themselves.
Additionally, Elan has significant expertise in
stress engineering, logistics support, EO, interoperability,
reliability and maintenance across customers such as Thales, BAE
Systems, Selex Galileo, Raytheon, QinetiQ, GE Aviation and
Atkins.
Our capability covers the vast majority of in-service and future
fixed and rotary wing aircraft platforms and systems.
Safety
Elan has extensive experience in providing compliant safety
assurance solutions, assembling safety management systems, safety
cases, hazard logs, conducting risk analysis and aviation safety
training for customers such as the UK MoD, QinetiQ, Thales, GE
Aviation, General Dynamics to the relevant Defence and Civil
Aerospace standards.
Hardware
Engineering
Elan provides hardware engineering services for both the military
and civil marketplace. Our services include electronic design and
software design.
Integrated Logistics
Support
Elan has proven capability across the ten disciplines of ILS:
Maintenance planning, Supply support, Support and Test
Equipment/Equipment support, Manpower and personnel, Training and
training support, Technical data, Computer Resources support,
Facilities, Packaging, Handling, Storage, and Transportation
(PHS&T) and the Design interface. This has been gained across a
wide variety of domains and technologies, with specialist experts
in each capability area.

Management
Elan has extensive project expertise in configuration management
disciplines of Configuration identification, Configuration change
control (or change management), Configuration status accounting and
Configuration verification and auditing
Systems
Engineering
A core strength of Elan has been in systems engineering projects,
which have represented by volume over 30% of Elan's work in the
sector. This has led Elan to be involved in the vast majority of UK
Defence programmes since 2000, either with Prime Contractors, SoSi
or Subsystem providers.
Research and
Development
Elan Defence has a respected portfolio technical specialists
covering a diverse range of defence subject areas, who have been at
the forefront of technology development with many existing systems.
These individuals are therefore ideally placed to support research
topics, and develop innovative ideas for future products and
concepts. Since Elan will not create systems, these individuals are
therefore able to provide a genuinely independent service to
Defence industry or the MoD itself with departments and agencies
such as DSTL and the RAO.
